Bunk1

Communications and Operations Intern

May - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Working with Bunk1 provided me with insight into the operations of a small tech company. Although my major is communications, and I worked a communications internship, I acquired tech skills that I now can add to my list of personal qualifications. I worked with a very small team of interns and full-time staff which allowed everyone to grow close over the course of the summer. Interns were also given plenty of opportunities to work extra hours for a higher pay.

What I wish was different

The shifts you worked were either morning or late afternoon. The late afternoon shift takes the entirety of your day. Sometimes I was getting home at dark.

Advice

Embrace every experience as an opportunity to learn. You don't have to be a communications major to benefit from the internship. Every intern of every major ended the summer with skills to carry on to their career fields.

Communications and Operations Intern

May - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Bunk1 was an amazing place to learn about how a small tech company works. I got to work directly with account managers and marketing specialists, and I got to do an intern project of my choosing. I would recommend this internship for anyone looking to go into the start-up or tech world because you will get a lot of hands-on experience. Plus the office is in a WeWork which was super cool.

What I wish was different

The hours were a little long, and sometimes I had to work weekends.

Advice

Even though Bunk1 isn't a big name company, you will learn so much more than you might as an intern at a huge company.
