What I liked

This was an intersection of my majors. It was a communications agency with a political leaning, so PR and political science came in extremely helpful. There were also only about 12 people in my office, and I was the only intern, so I really got to learn everything my coworkers did. I was extremely hands on and touched almost every client my team was working on.

What I wish was different

In the beginning, balancing my work was challenging. It was so fast paced that it was hard to stay organized at first. However, by the end I had figured out how to keep clients straight and prioritize different assignments. Make different email inboxes for each client and a running check list your first day.

Advice

It is challenging in the beginning so do not get discouraged. You are going to make mistakes at first but the criticism is going to make you better in the future. I was definitely frustrated in the beginning but by the end I loved what I was doing. Nothing of interest is instantly easy.

What I liked

The opportunity to work on a diverse array of projects with a diverse array of clients

What I wish was different

It took a while to have someone distinctly assigned to me as my direct manager instead of just working for everyone on my team

Advice

Speak up! If something is going wrong or you've been given either too many or not enough tasks, you need to say something to make sure your workload is both manageable and useful.
