Design Engineer Co-Op

January - August 2020 • New Bern, NC

What I liked

The atmosphere and the people I worked with were both incredible! You can be as involved and as busy as you would like to be. Every single person you work with has plenty of knowledge to offer.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten more involved in projects from the very beginning, but because of the learning curve it was difficult to hit the ground running. Just as I am starting to get comfortable with everything, my rotation is about to end.

Advice

Get as involved as you can and take up as many project as you can. Ask a lot of questions on anything and everything. What you learn in school is helpful, but there is still so much to learn in the field.

Design Engineer

May - August 2019 • Caryville, TN

What I liked

I enjoyed the environment as it is one that is very relaxed, yet still expects you to get your tasks done.

What I wish was different

Being someone that is always pushing themselves to learn as much as possible, I wish I had been given the chance to work in different areas of the company more and do more in-depth projects.

Advice

When working with the factory workers, listen intently on what they have to say because even though you are the engineer that designs the parts, they are the ones that handle them every day.
