This internship got me closer to government than I had initially thought. By sitting in on House and Senate hearings, drafting member company profiles for Legislative Assistants, and monitoring social media platforms for tech policy related endorsements, I learned so much about how private firms interact with the U.S. Government.
What I wish was different
This internship was online, and even though the BSA headquarters were right down the street, I was forced to stay in my apartment during my days of work. There was not very much interaction with my co-workers outside of business hours, but again, this was due to the ongoing global health crisis. That being said, if things were different, I'm positive that I would have made more meaningful connections with the amazing people at BSA.
Advice
There are many different ongoing tasks that BSA will want you to work on along with crucial projects that need to be completed by the end of the day, if not sooner. My advice: learn how to create an adaptable to-do list that prioritizes the essential projects while reminding you to complete the minor day-to-day tasks. By learning how to do this, I was able to do my job more effectively and get projects completed on time.
