Brown University PRIME

Research Assistant

May - August 2021 • Providence, RI

What I liked

I was working with a professor I had taken a class with and TA'd for, and it was really rewarding research on climate change politics and public relations. By the end of the summer, I was able to turn my research into a peer reviewed journal article, which was really exciting.

What I wish was different

The research job was remote, which meant that the offhand conversations I was used to having with the lead professor and the other researchers were not a part of this summer experience.

Advice

When remotely researching, it is easy to "hit a wall" and not know how to move forward with a specific part of the research. It's important to reach out for help early on; after every meeting with the lead professor or even other researchers I felt much more invigorated in my work and had a fresh approach.
