I had a great time during my internship with Mitchell Wiggins. I liked that I wasn't given busy work; I was helping prepare financial statements, conduct audit testing, and even visit clients. Getting the real-world experience of working in public accounting was incredible. There's an open-door policy, and I had the opportunity to talk to everyone that worked there, including the partners. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. They offer a mentorship program for the interns, where you can learn from and work closely with one of the staff accountants. Mitchell Wiggins also encourages the interns to participate in YRichmond, where you get to interact with other interns in the area and participate in social and professional development activities. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my internship and would recommend it to others.
What I wish was different
Although we had tax training and use their programs, I wish I got more tax experience. Not the fault of the company though, as it wasn't busy season.
