What I liked

I liked learning more about how campaigns run and the other possible avenues I can explore within the field.

What I wish was different

It was remote so I missed out on forming relationships with other interns and my supervisors.

Advice

Ask for details on what you will be doing. We mostly just phonebanked, and I wish we did more.

What I liked

I really loved the lunch and learn days. Once a week we got to listen to employees in different areas of the campaigns discuss their career paths and their day-to-day tasks.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been in person because I definitely got some zoom fatigue and missed the aspect of a job where you have a team environment and have the ability to work together. Of course, this was due to COVID and not the way the internship was run. I think we made the best of it.

Advice

Don't be afraid to take leadership opportunities! There's so much room to grow and learn from this job. Also, don't be afraid to try an area that you're unfamiliar with. I had never worked in politics or campaigning before, but because I tried it out, I know it's not the right fit for me. I still gained valuable skills none-the-less.
