Brightway is one of Long Island's largest organizations providing services for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, supporting over 1,600 people across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Our commitment hasn't changed since parents founded us in 1961: help every person move forward—in their own way, at their own pace, through every possible path.
Our team includes board-certified behavior analysts, medical professionals, speech and occupational therapists, special education teachers, and direct support professionals (DSPs) who've made careers here.
Some staff members have been with us for over 20 years, bringing accumulated wisdom from thousands of families. We pioneered Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in this region when it was new and still developing. We've adapted as research has evolved, adding approaches that extend beyond standard protocols, including 3D printing programs, greenhouse training, culinary coaching, and yoga for self-regulation.
We don't lock into single methods. We use what works, proven through data and adjusted based on your family member’s abilities and goals.
Brightway offers continuity.
We meet the needs of preschoolers in specialized education, teens building independence, adults in employment services, and people across all ages in residential programs. That continuity matters because trust and relationships drive progress.
We understand Long Island school districts, local resources, and the systems families navigate. Our service area spans Nassau and Suffolk counties, and our staff members often live in the communities we serve. That local knowledge translates into better advocacy and connections to resources.
We pursue growth in countless ways—big and small, fast and slow. Our staff members encourage forward motion. We celebrate all breakthroughs because they matter, and remain invested because we've witnessed what's possible. There is always a way forward.
