Felt very helpful to the students and very needed.
What I wish was different
I wish my partner would have known the bridgerland program more.
Advice
You don't have to know everything to teach.

Data Intern
January 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
The hours are very flexible and my contributions and opinions are highly valued, especially considering that I’m just an intern. The pay is pretty ok, too, and I’ve received 2 raises already since working there (I’m paid 1.40/hr more now than when I started)
What I wish was different
Honestly, the only thing I wish was different has more to do with the size of the company. I just don’t get much chance to dive into a very specialized project because, at such a mid-sized company, I just have to wear several hats.
Advice
Bridgerland has a great work culture. If you work there, you’re a valued member of the family there. Partly due to that, however, if you aren’t interested in staying in Logan for long, you may feel varying amounts of pressure to stay there long-term. Most of administration is very supportive, but if they keep you, they won’t want you to stay. This isn’t a couple-months internship, it’s intended to lead to full-time employment.

What I liked
My responsibilities were typically completed in the first few hours of my shift so I had time to work on homework or personal projects while there.

Instructional Design Intern
June 2018 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I loved getting a real editing position that pays well and is for a good cause. I still work there part-time, and I got a 30% raise after just a couple months! I love being able to help subject matter experts (instructors) teach properly by helping them to not let technology or language get in the way. My working environment is familial and uplifting.
What I wish was different
I just wish I'd found this job sooner.
Advice
I only got this position by reaching out and letting others know I was looking for a job and what my expertise was. Despite great personal efforts for a month this summer looking for a job (using LinkedIn heavily, applying to jobs on Handshake and Indeed, etc.), a friend just connected me to this position, and it practically fell into my lap. I would advise everyone to do the same: let all the people you know that you're looking for employment and what you're interested in and good at.
