What I liked

Volunteering at Garfield Park's Breakthrough, I loved working with the kids at the program. The students were high school students, and I helped them study and practice for the GED. Teaching them study techniques and seeing their progress in the program was amazing to see.

What I wish was different

Volunteering at Breakthrough, something I wish would have been different was being able to stay updated on the students I worked with because I didn't have a way of knowing how their progress was going in the program.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is that you don't know the type of students you are working with. Some students may have learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and more, so having an open mind and patience was key when volunteering at Breakthrough.

What I liked

I liked the people and the culture most. Everyone treats you as normal and regular employee that's valuable for the company. Most importantly I got to work on the real-life projects that will make the difference in the near future. I am glad I got this opportunity to work with Breakthrough. It's an amazing company.
