Summer Camp Nurse

June - August 2018 • Orange Park, FL

What I liked

I loved getting to know my campers and staff. We worked as a great team and I loved being there for people when they were injured or not feeling well at camp. I have made life long friends while working at camp.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more open communication from higher level managers. Sometimes events or tasks were unorganized due to a lack of explanations from higher administration.

Advice

I feel everyone should work at a summer camp at least one summer. You’re not going to get rich, but the friendships you make with staff, the interactions with campers and parents have made me a better person. I have worked at this same camp for 6 consecutive summers and I have been asked to return as an assistant camp director for the summer of 2019

Interpreter

June - August 2018 • Northern, MN

What I liked

It was awesome to be fully immersed in my job and be living where I worked. I thought my leadership skills really blossomed and I made some unforgettable memories. The scenery up there is to die for.

What I wish was different

I wish I had done a better job of keeping in touch with people at home because I was gone for nine full weeks in the summer. I could have brought my laptop to aid in this but chose not to and ended up regretting it.

Advice

It can feel tedious since it is a little over a week, but if you pay attention during your training you will set yourself up for success the whole time you are at Northern Tier.
