What I liked
I liked the independence of the job, and how I can set my own schedule every week. I also loved becoming familiar with various software programs that we use at Campus Operations, as well as making spreadsheets and invoicing! This summer I also got the opportunity to travel around campus and check out some areas that are normally off-limits to students, which gave me a new perspective on what BGSU's like behind the scenes.
What I wish was different
I wish I could've worked more than 28 hours a week during the summer and that I had gotten some more collaborative opportunities with the management staff.
Advice
To do this job well, you have to have attention to detail. A lot of the work is independent, and you need to be comfortable with using Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Also, always ask questions! There's a big learning curve to this job, but everyone is always willing to explain something or help if needed.

What I liked
I worked on various projects that dealt with SQL and allowed me to build this skillset. being able to come and go when I please was a big plus because I was taking summer classes as well.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have worked on more long term projects and maybe learned some more coding languages.
Advice
Show up to work on time and be ready to do something new everyday.

I was able to see how the campus operated behind the scenes and to see all of the moving parts was very cool.

I wish I could work on more projects rather than data entry.
Advice
Ask questions when you don't know the answer and if they don't know the answer than google is your friend and you should take advantage of that. There are a lot of smart people that work at Campus Ops and they can share that knowledge with you.
