Bournewood Health Systems is a private psychiatric hospital and facility that provides behavioral health treatment to adults and adolescents with mental health and substance use conditions.

Our main campus is located in Brookline, MA on a beautiful wooded 12.5-acre campus. Treatment units are located in several Victorian buildings and patients often say it feels like home. We offer inpatient and partial hospital programs at the Brookline campus; and we offer partial hospital programs at our other sites in Dedham, Lowell and Woburn.

Inpatient Services
Bournewood is the right choice for individuals with acute mental health and substance use conditions. On our main campus at Brookline, we operate 6 inpatient units and a total of 102 inpatient beds, which are highly structured, secure and safe settings that focus on healing and recovery. We treat most behavioral health conditions including dual diagnoses and detox.
Partial Hospital Programs
Located at Brookline and our satellite site in Dedham, Lowell and Woburn, these are voluntary intensive brief treatment programs for adults and adolescents centered on sobriety, recovery and symptom management for mental health conditions.
Medication Assisted Treatment
Individual medication management visits with a board-certified addiction staff psychiatrist. Include group therapy sessions with licensed clinicians.
Treatment Team Approach
Our treatment teams consist of psychiatrists, licensed social workers, licensed alcohol and drug dependency counselors, mental health counselors and rehabilitation specialists such as occupational therapists and art and music therapists.

We understand that many of the people served by the hospital have had experiences of trauma during their lifetime – trauma which often leaves lasting emotional hardship. It is our intention to prevent the use of any potentially retraumatizing practices, especially the use of restraint and/or seclusion and to make the hospital as emotionally and physically safe as possible.
