Boston Cannons

Game Day Intern

June - August 2019 • Quincy, MA

What I liked

I loved the game day experience I got. It showed how much effort goes to put on a professional sports game. I also loved how I got to help run the penalty box. I was able to talk to the players, the coaches, and the training staff often, which was a really incredible experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten to work in the office space. Some interns did, and I feel like they got to learn even more behind the scenes of how a professional sports organization works.

Advice

You're never "too important" to do the dirty work yourself. The President of the team was out on the field putting out the sideline chairs and helping with everything. Some of the interns didn't want to do the set-up or clean-up but the President and the Owner both always helped.

What I liked

I enjoyed the practical and real world experience of the internship.

What I wish was different

I do wish I would have received a salary for the number of hours that I worked.

Advice

Work on a lot of projects outside of what they expect from you. Always be doing more.
