Digital Marketing, Google Analytics and Content Creation Intern at BootstrapVT

May 2019 • Burlington, VT

What I liked

The space that BootstrapVT has the privilege to be in is the best place to work in Burlington. Period. Based out of VCET the "office" space creates a place for creativity to flow freely, but also a tight nit community that looks to help everyone in it grow. The only thing better than space is the people you get to work with. Geoff the CEO and Founder of BootstrapVT is reliable, personal, and easy to talk to. Whether this is your first internship or your 5th Geoff will take you from your base level of knowledge and help you reach your highest potential.

What I wish was different

I wish could have stayed longer. Time is valuable and precious every day in the office is another day to learn. It shouldn't be wasted lightly.

Advice

Ditch big business and come work with startups. Just because it's a start-up or a small business it can be scary or run a little differently, but it is way better than being just an intern running coffee. I was treated as an employee, a colleague and a friend never degraded for having the title of the intern. It was the best choice I could have made.

Digital Marketing Intern

June 2019 • Burlington, VT

What I liked

My internship at BootstrapVT was a fantastic experience. Not only did I get the chance to work with a great team of thinkers and marketers, but I got to meet and collaborate with innovative clients which allowed me to learn about startups and the path of entrepreneurship. It was amazing to be involved in growing small businesses through my work with BootstrapVT and see real results. I gained exposure and experience with the most relevant marketing tools (i.e. MailChimp, Facebook Ads Manager, etc.) and was able to be creative through the exploration of ideas and strategies, eventually pitching them to clients. Being able to work in the modern and collaborative VCET space itself was an amazing opportunity and environment to work in.

What I wish was different

I wish that during my time at BootstrapVT I'd had the chance to see a client pitch and see what goes into that initial first impression that may or may not captivate and convince a client to work with us. Other than that, we interns were exposed to it all and involved with most aspects of client relations and work!

Advice

Be prepared to become a sponge - as an intern at BootstrapVT, you will be exposed to all things marketing/startup related so be ready and willing to learn!
