Immature coworkers, payroll could be difficult to deal with.

Check who your coworkers will be before beginning, and bring plenty of sunblock.

Surf Lifeguard

What I liked

Being able to help people with first-aid, ensure the safety of swimmers in a pool and the ocean, and coordinate/instruct swimming lessons for children ages 9-11.

What I wish was different

I wish I had received a larger raise for returning to Bonnet Shores Beach Club, since this was my fourth summer working there, and while I did receive a $1.25 raise from last summer, the RI DEM raised minimum wage for state-employed lifeguards to $13.00/hour starting salary. So after working at Bonnet Shores Beach Club for four years, I was still making what a first year surf lifeguard would have been making at a state beach.

Advice

Bonnet Shores Beach Club is a fun and interactive workspace with cooperative staff and management. Good for a first job, and has room for advancement in someone's particular department.
