Bombardier

Project Engineering Intern

February - May 2021 • Wichita, KS

What I liked

It was my first internship and I got to learn a lot about the real working world. I expanded my network and learnt how to communicate in a fast-paced, professional environment.

What I wish was different

I was treated like a full time employee with expected years of experience. It was very fast paced and stressful. Because of the constant lay-offs, one employee is handling multiple roles and responsibilities. And the tasks will be pushed to an intern with the same expectations, regardless of experience.

Advice

Learn how to leave a job when you're too stressed out. Do not stay at a job because they pay you well or for the sake of your resume. It's not worth ruining both your mental and physical health for an internship where people are not understanding enough.

Finance Intern

October 2017 • Wichita, KS

What I liked

My supervisor is extremely helpful and encouraging of me to take on tasks. It is not just an internship to solely observe but to participate and have hands on learning. They also embrace the fact that I am a student first and an intern second and I really appreciate their willingness to work around not just my class schedule but studying and extra school activities.

What I wish was different

Advice

Just throw yourself into it. It seemed scary at first to be doing some of the work I am but I will never learn and feel comfortable if I don't just go for it and submerge myself into actual work.

Project Management team

August 2017 • Wichita, KS

What I liked

They take the time to get you integrated into the workflow. There is a lot to grasp all at once and a fairly long learning curve on it. They understand that you are an intern and that school comes first. Was able to get alot of valuable work experience and did actions that full time employees were doing.

What I wish was different

As far as internships go its pretty solid, not much Id change that I can think of.

Advice

Ask questions, ask for help, but only after you've given it a solid try. Make sure you can at least say what you've tried and ask why that's not working before you ask. There will be a lot you do not understand.
