Blueport Commerce

Test automation engineer intern

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I liked the mentor ship I had and the collaborative work atmosphere. I think working in a real life setting taught me a lot of skills and it was a great experience.

What I wish was different

I think it was a great first software internship, it would’ve been nice if it was paid but other than that it was great.

Advice

To not feel intimidated when you first start because you will slowly get the hang of things and to put yourself out there and learn as much as you can.

Product Reliability Engineer Intern

What I liked

My favorite part about working at Blueport commerce was the positive and collaborative work atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. My supervisor especially was very helpful and his main goal for my internship was mainly for me to learn new skills and gain experience with different tools. I learnt a lot during this summer in terms of my programming skills as well as my networking skills. I used a lot of new tools that I hadn’t at school and I think this real world experience made me feel more secure in my major. Also, so many people bring their dogs to work which is so adorable! Overall, I’m grateful I had this learning opportunity and I hope to use the skills that I have learnt in my future endeavors.

What I wish was different

I think I was pretty satisfied with my experience! It would have been nice to have gotten paid but I received the WOW scholarship and a great experience so I can’t complain.

Advice

I think my willingness to learn helped me a lot this summer. It’s okay if you don’t know what’s going on or how to do something as long as you ask questions and try! Everyone is on the same boat, and even the most experienced people don’t have all the answers!
