Graphics and Multimedia Intern

May - August 2018 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

I really loved my experience. I was given a great deal of responsibility, guidance, and support. I did real projects that were fulfilling and had a wonderful team environment to work in.

What I wish was different

I wish I had even more time there. They were only able to offer me 3 days per week plus events, which was wonderful but I wished I could have had even more time.

Advice

I think confidence is key, this experience gave me a great deal of confidence. It's about doing your best, asking questions, and believing in yourself. Even if you don't have a skill, stay positive and believe you can learn it.

Actuarial Intern - Reserving

May - August 2018 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

This internship offered hands-on experience with real data, and the ability to showcase my talents by working on a project from scratch. The Intern-Mentor program was very well run, and there was an appropriate amount of guidance offered. In the beginning, my mentor was there to help me get started in the right direction, offering help as needed. As the project went on, more and more of the project was placed in my hands and I could sculpt it the way I chose. By the end, I had a sense of project ownership and I was proud of what I had created— and eager to show it off to upper management at the final presentation.

What I wish was different

Advice

This internship was a great experience to get introduced to the real world and the healthcare aspect of insurance. There are always people to help you along the way, so you won't be dropped into the workplace and be told to figure it out.
