Product Manager Intern

June - September 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Amazing experience to dive into the world of product. I was able to work on major features and collaborate with an amazing and super talented product team. Even as an intern, I sat in meetings with top folks at the company-- all who respected my views and the experience I brought to the team. If there's one thing that embodies the company, it's this: I sat on the same table as the C-level executives. No fancy offices or suits. Just working really hard to offer a great service.

What I wish was different

Unlike other internships, there was no one "project" and final presentation. The outcome was I had to self-prioritize and some things feel between the cracks and never got my full attention. In my opinion, a shade more structure would have even been beneficial to my efficiency.

Advice

1. Always, always, always make an effort to meet people in the company. No matter their seniority. 2. Follow through. It's easy to overpromise and-- heck-- even overdeliver! But, drop the ball once, and it's hard to build the momentum the same way. In short, take accountability for your own internship experience.
