I really liked all of the responsibility that Blank Slate Media gave me. I received so much experience and was able to report on numerous hard news events, such as robberies and political issues. I loved the hands-on experience I received.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had a car that would help me get to and from reporting events everyday.
Advice
One piece of advice I would give to an incoming intern is to realize that you are starting at the bottom of the totem pole, and to earn everyone's respect you must put in as much effort as you can. You should be the first person in the office in the morning and the last person to leave. Ask other reporters if you can help them with anything. Propose story ideas and offer to go to more events than asked to your boss to show him or her how dedicated you are. The effort you put in will be a direct reflection of the results and connections you will receive once it is all over.
