Our history starts in the Black Hills, supplying electricity to Deadwood when it was a rough-and-tumble gold mining town, back in the days of Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok. We've been in business more than 135 years and are based in Rapid City, South Dakota. We have over 2900 employees across eight states (South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Arkansas).
We are devoted to our communities. Each year, our team members donate thousands of dollars and hours to local organizations. We’re mentoring in schools, organizing fundraisers, coaching youth soccer, and serving on nonprofit boards because we care about our neighbors.
