Phlebotomy Technician
October 2018 - August 2019 • Coralville, IA
What I liked
I loved learning about the process of developing life-saving medicines! This job was a great way for me to build up hands-on patient care experiences for my major. The Coralville center was a welcoming group of people that worked with my class schedule and made it easy to balance both my schooling and job.
What I wish was different
Sometimes the hours are tough. Opening shifts begin early in the morning and evening shifts can go late into the night. Depending on what works best for you is something you can work out with the management.
Advice
If you're not sure if you would be able to work around blood don't worry! There are other positions in the center that do not involve it as much. When I was hired, I was terrified of needles and blood. After working there it doesn't bother me anymore.
