What I liked

I loved the chance to be in a new (tropical and exotic) environment with a group of other interns from all over the country who had similar passions and interests to me. I appreciated the mixture of classroom style education with hands-on field work. I appreciate the challenges of the living environment and the ways in which the daily schedule and tasks pulled me out of my comfort zone and helped me to really grow and learn about myself, others, and the world around me.

What I wish was different

I wish that I didn't have to spend so much time in the kitchen helping to chop vegetables/etc. I wish that I had more opportunities to get involved with the local community and/or build relationships with local people. The transportation options also could have been better, although I recognize that was part of the overall experience of living in the location that I did.

Advice

Make sure that you understand what you are signing up for before you commit! Then make sure to pay attention to the packing list and other information that is given to you before the start of the internship.
