Beverly Law Firm

Legal Intern

June - August 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed working closely with every member of the Beverly Law team. Despite being an intern, I was made to feel like an integral part of the firm and given many projects of high caliber to work on. I was given the opportunity to work on more advanced things as the summer progressed which helped me actually apply what I had been learning and gave me a chance to learn more.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to interact face to face with more members of the team.

Legal Intern

May - August 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I loved being able to complete substantive legal work. Everyone in the office is very helpful, kind, and wants to see you succeed. I loved the structure of the internship, moving from the prelitigation to litigation department. Shadowing attorneys' work was a very enriching experience. You learn how to talk to clients, review and draft legal documents, and work in a legal environment.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is to brush up on your research and writing skills if you are hoping to become a legal intern. You should be comfortable reviewing hundreds of pages to find what you are looking for and being able to write in a professional matter. Even though you can ask others for help, the work is independent. This job is great for sociable, self-motivated people who are passionate about law and possess great reading and writing abilities.

HR Intern

May - July 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed being able to do work that had an impact on the company and recruiting. I got to re-write the job posts, create office morale postings and culture, as well as doing a ton of recruiting for attorneys, case managers, and intake specialists. It really let me find my appreciation for doing recruiting and headhunting and got me excited to work with a team.

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed the tasks and recruiting I got to do because I felt much more like a real employee rather than an intern and got to get people hired that I initially recruited and spoke to over the phone.

Advice

My one piece of advice is to be hungry to put your own spin on things and think about the end goal of why you are doing a task or project. It's never a bad thing to go beyond on a project, give your opinion/idea, or try something new.
