What I liked

I love the atmosphere at Beulah Beach, and that whatever role you are serving in is going to affect the camper's experiences! As registrar, I was in the office most of the day and didn't get to have many direct interactions with campers. However, I got to be a part of the scholarship process that allowed many kids to come to camp for a week, and get to know my office teammates really well. It is an awesome place to work, and I wish I could go back every year!

What I wish was different

Advice

Apply early! Spots typically fill up pretty fast, and there is only one opening for a registrar position! You also don't need a ton of experience as a registrar in order to get this position. The most important skills to have are people skills and an ability to problem solve and think on your feet.

On the Road Camp Counselor

What I liked

I liked that I could pour my heart out every week and serve kids and other staff members through the love of Christ. It is hard work but is growing and stretches you a ton to be pouring your heart out as you are on your own journey of growing with God. It is an encouraging environment and there is nothing like camp.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could be paid more to do it but I think that it is more about the experience and serving than being paid. I think it also would be cool if there was a way to unite the staff as a whole more as the summer gets started. In this way, once campers come the individual teams start to become their own groups and it’s harder to have staff bonding experiences.

Advice

I would say that if you are a Christian and want an opportunity to serve and grow in your faith, consider applying for this position. You will be sacrificing a high paying job, but your life will change. If you don’t know who Jesus is, I hope you can know that His love for you is perfect and unwavering. There is no greater love than one that would lay down one’s life for one’s friends. He died for you so you could live in freedom from judgement and shame and with God forever in Heaven. In this job you will learn to lay down your life for others. It’s awesome. My advice is to press into who God is and learn what He thinks of you, because He loves you more than you could ever know.

I would say that it would recommend this job to anyone. It is a great way to serve, build friendships, and have an amazing summer!
