I liked getting hands-on experience working on a large-scale project. It was very fast-paced, so I was doing something different everyday

What I wish was different

I wish I had been in person more, but since it was a remote internship, I was at home working most of the time.

Advice

Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. I was so afraid to look dumb in front of my manager, but that is the reason they are there. They want you to succeed just as much as you do.

Category Management Intern

What I liked

I loved learning more about the demand planning and merchandising analyst roles at Best Buy and getting a well-thought-out, hands-on learning experience. As an intern, I spent a lot of time shadowing my mentor on my team, jumping in on meetings with vendors, and learning about the various programs used to order and manage inventory. At the end of the 10-week internship program, I felt confident I would be successful in this role. Plus, the internship program run by the Emerging Talent team provided all kinds of unique events and opportunities for interns to attend. It was amazing to work with and learn from all kinds of people.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to meet more of the interns in my category management intern cohort in-person. While I was an intern, this position was technically virtual unless you were located in the Twin Cities area and wanted to come in. I wasn't able to meet everyone since so many of the interns are from all over the US. But I cherish the friendships I made with other interns I was able to meet in the office!

Advice

Take advantage of every opportunity you get. There are plenty of opportunities to hear amazing speakers, network with people in roles you didn't even know exist, and be a part of Best Buy's amazing, inclusive culture.
