Berkshire Theatre Group

Stage Management and General Technician Intern

May - September 2019 • Pittsfield, MA

What I liked

Most everyone in the company was fun to work and super knowledgeable about their field. I got to work on professional productions with a professional company, including 1 AEA show.

What I wish was different

The hours were never specified and were always very long, sometimes extremely so.

Advice

I would absolutely recommend the stage management internship. I can't say the same for the General technician internship.

Audio/Video Intern

May - August 2019 • Stockbridge, MA

What I liked

I loved the community of people who worked there. Since it was a theatre internship, we are used to working together, but this group of employees made it feel like working with my family.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more experience with every aspect of sound design, but since it's such a broad design aspect, it would have been impossible to learn everything in 3 months.

Advice

I would say if you work in summer stock at a theatre, be prepared to work long hours for little praise. But I learned so much and made so many connections that it was definitely worth it.

What I wish was different

Nothing
