I was able to get an inside look to the commercial insurance industry. I got exposed to many lines of insurance and received valuable information from other professionals in the company.

What I liked
The IT department was a really great work environment, the people are very friendly and interact casually with all the interns. The managers and internship organizers make it clear that they want to help the interns learn and get the most out of their internship experience. The internship is not heavily structured, and so gives the interns much opportunity to take initiative.
What I wish was different
Internship positions do not all have the same projects, and so my specific projects did not include much technical software development work. While I enjoyed my experience, I wish I was able to be involved more directly in application development and coding.
Advice
Take initiative! Find out what teams are working on, what individuals are working on, and even specific projects that you would like to be involved in.
