Bergmann is centered in Rochester, NY so the Albany office is a smaller branch that has about 20 people ranging from infrastructure to architecture, water resources to structural, and other disciplines. I worked this past summer in the infrastructure department as well as with the structural engineer in the office. I visited multiple sites representing CSX Transportation, created budget analyses for multiple projects, and corresponded between CSX and contractors working on projects near CSX tracks. I also worked in the office on various structural projects that used RISA, Revit, and hand calculations as well. My experience was amazing because I was able to work on a variety of different projects and learn about the responsibilities of all of the parties involved in a project.
What I wish was different
I wish I had taken the opportunity to work in a larger office setting just to get a feel for the difference in a small and large company.
