What I wish was different
*Residents, families, employees, and volunteers are unsatisfied with the level of care being provided, constant complaints regarding all meals being served, and they are not even able to find an Administrator who is willing to stay.
*The last Administrator lasted five weeks. The staff turnover especially of Directors or veteran staff is concerning. One family member didn't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of Administrators that have worked in the nursing home in the almost ten years her loved one has lived there.
*Forget about receiving adequate training because it doesn't happen although you will be written up or receive a written coach and counsel because you were never trained properly instead, you're expected to be knowledgeable about any and everything. Even if your department never was responsible, trained, or required to complete a task or responsibility. Nor will you ever be provided an opportunity to provide supporting proof or an explanation on why the written warning or written coach and counsel is not warranted.
*The best staff that they have and will frequently receive written warnings. Management is kind enough to vouch they have given them written warnings in a public space with other employees in close approximately to hear confidential information.
*All documentation is expected to protect the facility as the DHS investigators, licensure, and ombudsman always make the facility look bad." I received an insurmountable amount of criticism regarding my documentation as I was making them look bad. Afterward, I was unable to enter any documentation on or in the residents' files before it was first reviewed by my supervisor who became offended and then repeatedly told me I was doing it wrong, being manipulated, and even clueless. As all concerns, statements, or observations that may look unfavorable, the documentation must be "wrapped up with a pretty little bow."
*All I experienced was management becoming offended whenever an employee reported or shared information collected during a conversation with the residents if the reporter was personally attacking them the verbal and nonverbal communication was aggressive and then they would interrupt you anytime you attempted to speak.
* All employees would be treated equally. The same rules did not apply to everyone. Some employees wouldn't show up, were always late, left early, or even laid on the floor taking a break for an hour or two.
