Ben's Bells Project

About Ben's Bells Project

The mission of Ben's Bells is to inspire, educate, and motivate people to realize the impact of intentional kindness, and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening ourselves, our relationships and our communities.
Ben’s Bells programs and activities center around the symbolic and iconic Ben’s Bell. We sculpt our pieces from clay, kiln fire them, glaze and kiln fire again.
Ben's Bells are hung randomly throughout the community and world, for people to find and take home as a reminder to practice intentional acts of kindness.

Studio Intern

May 2018 - July 2018 Bethel, CT
“ I learned so much about working for a non-profit organization, speaking to large groups, the professional use of social media and advocating on behalf of Ben’s Bells to customers and organizations. Not only did I learn valuable lessons relating to my education, but I also grew incredibly passionate about their mission and the work that they do. My supervisors Jane and Cody were great mentors for me throughout my internship period and also were very encouraging of my suggestions and ideas in the studio. One of my favorite aspects of my internship at Ben’s Bells was the interpersonal relationships and connections made. Ben’s Bells has a number of volunteers that come regularly, and I found myself looking forward to seeing them each week! Two high school students, Kiely and Victor, come to the studio at least once a week and are some of the most incredible kids I’ve met. They have such a heart for community service and for spreading kindness. Chatting with them while working in the studio and answering the questions they have about college have been major highlights for me throughout my internship. ”

“I loved being around art and color 24/7. The idea of spreading kindness was something I enjoyed informing our volunteers on and providing it myself.”
