I really enjoyed my time here and loved the experience of working on music row. I learned a lot about the management of studios, recording technology, and more.

I wish I could have gotten more involved in the technical aspects of the studio.

What I liked
Collaboration with fellow undergraduate students in psychological research, stipend for participation, experience in student-led data collection, poster presentations, and working through the entire research process.
What I wish was different
More flexibility in choosing the research topic which you worked on for the 6-week duration of the program
Advice
Make sure to lean on your faculty advisor for help throughout the process, and don't be afraid to ask questions! You are in the SURFs program to learn!

I appreciate the independence this position let me had in doing research and the one on one conversations I was able to have with my mentoring professor.
What I wish was different
Ideally, there would have been multiple students to run the experiment but I learned a lot doing it solo.
Advice
In order to do this position well you need to be able to manage your time effectively and be self motivated to work.

The schedule was flexible. You get to decide what to research in that topic; the advisor is only there to guide you.
What I wish was different
My only complaint is that the summer research could have gone on longer. There is still so much to do. Those 6 weeks went by fast.
