Human Services Intern: Specialty Financial Management
May - August 2019 • Logan, UT
What I liked
I had the unique opportunity to work closely with the Human Service Specialists that worked directly with the low income and homeless population in the community. They were the case managers and I aided in the paperwork and intake processes.
What I wish was different
I do wish I would have had more exposure to clients that were proactive about wanting financial management assistance. There were not many experiences where I was able to effectively assist clients. This was partly due to the lack of referrals and partly due to the lack of accountability of the clients. When not working with financial management clients I would work with client files, data entry, and assisting in client intake.
Advice
This association was fabulous in allowing me to experience working with different programs. A piece of advice I would share is be teachable, flexible, and a hard worker!
