Established in 1978, Bay Aging is an innovative, award-winning non-profit that delivers services to ten rural counties in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck region in eastern Virginia. Bay Aging has a large, diverse menu of services based within three major divisions - Community Living, Bay Transit, and Bay Family Housing. The organization employs over 300 people and has an annual multi-million dollar budget. While all services are available in the region, Bay Aging is the lead community organization for the statewide initiative VAAACares - Virginia Area Agencies on Aging Caring for the Commonwealth. VAAACares partners Area Agencies on Aging across Virginia with insurers to bring quality long-term care services to Medicare and Medicaid patients. The goals are to reduce hospital readmissions, increase healthy outcomes, and reduce health care costs. Bay Aging is also the only Area Agency on Aging that contracts with veterans medical centers/hospitals to bring services to veterans of any age who are at risk of moving from home care to institutional care. Bay Aging is a Virginia leader, dynamic and innovative!
