Banner Day Camp in Lake Forest, IL is looking for education students to work with us as camp counselors during the upcoming summer of 2021. Staff are required to be at camp for the full camp season, June 14 to August 13, which includes a week of training/orientation. Being a counselor at Banner helps future teachers improve their skills of working with children and collaborating with coworkers.
Our amazing team of counselors and directors at Banner is full of teachers and administrators from many districts in the Chicago-land area. We're always willing to help our counselors find teaching positions at schools in the area.
Positions at Banner Day Camp:
Camp Counselor: Group and Roving Counselors work with a specific age level. They assist and participate in all daily activities, lunch, and swimming. All staff members are nurturing and positive individuals who provide care, support, and encouragement to campers. They also help forge important bonds between all members of their group. Group and Roving Counselors are needed in each of Banner’s age level divisions: Banner Beginnings (3 and 4 year olds), Junior Camp (Pre-K through completion of Kindergarten), Senior Camp (Completion of first through third grade), Tween Camp (Completion of fourth through sixth grade).
Specialty Counselors: These staff members work daily in their area of expertise and passion. They instruct skills and lead campers in activities such as Archery, Arts & Crafts, Baseball and Softball, Basketball, Bumper Boats, Bungee Trampoline, Canoeing, Cheerleading, Creative Movement, Creative Play, Dance, Drama, Dune Buggies, Fishing, Floor Hockey, Football, Games, Go-Karts, Golf, Gymnastics, Kayaking, Lifeguards, Martial Arts, Musical Theater, Nature, Pom Pon, Rock Climbing, Sand Volleyball, Singing, Soccer, Storytelling, Swimming, Zip Line below. Specialty areas at Banner are staffed with highly trained and talented individuals who love working with children.
Office Staff: These staff members help organize camp and keep Banner running efficiently. Banner is looking for organized individuals with strong communication skills. Here at Banner, many people work behind the scenes to pull it all together. These individuals help with desktop publishing, camper lunch orders, newsletters, overnighter sign ups, photography, bus transportation, and website updates.
