The Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) promotes well-being among individuals and families by providing quality health, housing and social services. Along with an administrative unit, HHS is comprised of the Departments of Health and Social Services.
The Baltimore County Department of Health promotes health and prevents disease through education, advocacy, and linkage to resources and treatment. The Department administers entitlement and benefits programs, conducts investigations and inspections, offers clinical and case management services and provides health education and outreach.
The Baltimore County Department of Social Services protects vulnerable children and adults by conducting investigations, referring residents to appropriate services, administering the foster care program, administering assistance programs (such as medical, food, housing, energy) and providing leadership and staffing for the County’s emergency shelter operations.
