What I liked

Interning at Kindros has been an incredible and fulfilling experience! The culture at Kindros is positively contagious as it is grounded in the mission of providing unbiased financial education. Joining at a later time, I was immediately onboarded with positivity, support, encouragement, and commitment to my personal growth being a new team member. I have shared the fulfilling opportunity to work on a variety of projects, increase my financial education, and grow with individuals who are committed to making an impact!

Research Project about Culinary Influences of Colonialism

May - June 2018 • Lisbon, Lisboa Region

What I liked

It was a fascinating month of exploring the food and culture of Portugal, and learning how Portuguese cuisine has evolved over time with effects of being a colonial power. Most importantly, how the world's cuisine was able to transform with Portuguese influence and globalization in the 1770's.

What I wish was different

I wish I'd utilized Babson Connections in Portugal more. There are a ton of alumni connections and participant schools that would've been willing to work with me. I will definitely look forward to using these networking opportunities to the max next time I travel.

Advice

I recommend everyone to apply for the Glavin Global Grant, which gave me this opportunity to travel to the Iberian Peninsula for the first time and taste the unique culture of Portugal during their renewed golden era. It was incredible to see how the country has changed and morphed with the boom in tourism over the last decade, and raises questions on how this will impact current food trends in Portugal. So we will see, more to come.
