I enjoyed being able to attend meetings and talk to employees to get a feel for what it's like to work as an engineer. At the time, the company was working on the biggest shipments of IMD-A instruments that they have ever had. It was great to do some programming, test the latest releases of software, and learn embedded programming.
What I wish was different
One thing that I wish had been different was the amount of inventory I did at the beginning, however I do believe that it gave me an appreciation for the amount of work it takes just to organize a bill of materials.
Advice
It's important to go into an internship open-minded. I learned a lot from this internship just by trying new things. A lot of times, the main concern is that the assigned task is completed. It's different from school where professors give specific guidelines. In this internship it is imperative that one shows initiative and a willingness to "figure it out".
