Avita Health System is a nonprofit, locally governed healthcare organization serving North Central Ohio. Established in 2011 through the merger of Bucyrus and Galion Community Hospitals, Avita expanded in 2017 with the opening of Avita Ontario Hospital. Today, the system includes three hospitals—Bucyrus, Galion, and Ontario—as well as over 40 clinics and two urgent care centers across Crawford and Richland counties.
Avita employs more than 2,200 staff members and over 170 medical providers, offering a wide range of services including emergency care, surgery, maternity, cardiac care, imaging, rehabilitation, and more. The system is known for its high patient satisfaction scores and commitment to community-based, patient-centered care.
Unlike many health systems, Avita has remained independent and locally governed, with board members who live in the communities they serve. This local leadership model supports a strong culture of collaboration among the board, medical staff, and employees, all working together to fulfill Avita’s mission: to improve the health and well-being of those they serve.
