Wonderful workplace culture; full-time employees were absolutely welcoming and some of the kindest people I've ever met. They were genuinely caring about me as a person!
Expectations, including hours, were flexible and respectful.
Department did not presuppose my complete knowledge of the skills but hired me to grant me the opportunity to learn. Supported the chance for me to train in the tasks I'd be working in.

Student Caller (Fundraising)

What I liked
I enjoyed calling people and having conversations with each of our donors. Many of them were very nice, and it always feels accomplishing to convince people to support the school again. The co-workers are friendly and represent the Ave culture well. The boss is also very friendly, laid back. and lenient with scheduling issues.
What I wish was different
There is always the odd call where people might be rude or just hang up. Those can be depressing, but it is important to look forward to those better calls. Not to mention, issues like this are usually never on the fault of the phone center or the caller.
Advice
Though you might not see the person's face, it is important to smile while at your desk. It boosts self-confidence and makes you more outgoing on the phone.

What I liked
I liked working with my boss and learning new skills and strategies about fundraising for a religious nonprofit. I also enjoyed speaking with benefactors and learning more about the history of the institution through their stories.
What I wish was different
The hours were not ideal, 3-9pm Monday-Friday.
Advice
This is a good job to have if you want a second job, maybe don't make it your primary source of income.

Student Financial Aid Counselor

What I liked
I enjoy learning about how our funding of the students. There has been experienced with creating templates, assessing applications, answering the phone, and emails. The staff are quite helpful and gave me leadership skill in teaching our new student workers during the semester.
What I wish was different
The one thing i would have liked different would be to have a smaller about of files to organize with.
Advice
My advice is to always ask questions if you do not know what you are supposed to do. Having a coworker to check on you every so often has really helped me to blossom with the financial aid office.

Go to meetings and be prepared to give suggestions, but also realize that you may have to be flexible.
