Behavioral Health Technician

What I liked

Being a Behavior Technician is a rewarding job as you work one-on-one with kids and get to see their skills and abilities progress as they learn and grow. I've really gotten to know and have grown very fond of the children I work with and their families. I genuinely get excited when the kiddo reaches a new milestone! The company itself has a lot of great individuals that I get to work and collaborate with. It a job that requires some patience and creativity but the rewards are certainly worth the effort!

What I liked

I liked working with children who are on the Autism Spectrum because it gave me a new perspective on life, along with offering me a great experience.

What I wish was different

Time-off requests. You must make up any time that you request off (no matter how far in advance you make it), if no one can cover your shift.

Advice

I highly recommend people do this job because it is a phenomenal experience, especially for those who are in childhood development, or psychology. I am very fortunate I was assigned a wonderful child. The time you spend with whoever you are assigned will affect you forever.

Behavioral Treatment Technician

What I liked

I really enjoyed working with 2 areas of interest: children and individuals with autism. From this experience, you get to know the children and families on a personal level. The skills from this job will help me immensely in my career as a Music Therapist.

What I wish was different

This job does involve travel time to and from the client's house as well as traveling between multiple clients' houses. If you live further away from these houses, travel time and gas will be more than if you lived closer. Reimbursement is given between client's houses but not to the first house and after the last house.

Advice

My advice for this job would be to have a ton of patience. Since everyday is different, you never know what situation will arise.
