What I liked

I liked being around students from different backgrounds and with a wide variety of majors. I enjoyed being able to work on four different research projects through out the summer. I loved being able to learn and grow more through hands on learning experience.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more follow through with some parts of the projects that we were working on. It felt like a lot of things went unfinished. I wish I would have had more opportunities to work with data analytics as that was why I took the internship in the first place. I wish that we would have been paid more equally.

Advice

Take every opportunity even if you do not think it is the best fit for you, you never know how much you will learn and grow from different experiences.

What I liked

I like how interns were presented with multiple different paths to choose from. For example, I was very interested in coding websites whereas some of my colleagues were more interested in designing websites, and we were able to essentially choose our own path based on what we were interested in. Would recommend especially if you are already going to be living on campus over the summer.

Summer Visit Day Coordinator

Summers on campus are very relaxed but managing the visit days and volunteers was a nice challenge.

What I wish was different

I wish students could get a raise every year that they work for Augie, especially those who stay over the summer.

Being able to work outside, Campus provides housing for a reduced price, Full time work experience

Possibly slightly higher pay for workers who do not take advantage of on-campus housing.

The Financial Aid counselors were very helpful and patient as I learned new skills. They were eager for my help and was enthusiastic to teach me new protocols and procedures.

Advice

Working 7-8 hours is a great way to prepare yourself for life after college, especially if you are going into a career with desk work. Applying for a job that will give you that experience is one that should be taken early in your college career not late.
