Atlas Surveying

Survey intern

May 2023 • Ridgeland, SC

What I liked

Wonderful place to work. They gave me a platform to learn the basics of surveying, which is the pillar of Civil Engineering. Friendly environment. Crew chiefs are awesome and willing to teach. As an international student, I have some problems understanding English. However, everyone is so helpful and repeats a sentence when I do not understand. They never feel bothered.

What I wish was different

Health insurance should be provided to the workers by company

Advice

The truth is that surveying work is hard. You will face 100+ F temperature for 10 hours everyday in summer. Snakes, alligators, ticks, chiggers, ants, and many more are very common at the job site. But...but I believe peace comes after hard times. So, I will suggest, face the challenge, and you will be satisfied at the end of the day. You will feel that your sweating is actually helping to build the infrastructure, making the world a better place for humans to live. After all, it will make you a perfect civil engineer in the future. If you agree to work with them, then at least try your best to give them something. You may not understand what are you doing, but try try try..YOU CAN..best of luck
