I liked how this experienced allowed me to a variety of types of surgery and fields of medicine. The exposure to different roles of medicine that is still applied to surgery was a great learning experience.
What I wish was different
I wish that this would have given me more time in the OR. This had more time that was unstructured to view surgeries on our own time. I would have liked to view these other surgeries to make further connections with physicians.
Advice
I would like to suggest to others that this position is what you make of it and make the most of the time you spend there. Take your free time to view as many surgeries as possible, and make connections that will help me in the future.

What I liked
I loved the opportunity to explore and experience every part of the hospital, from operating rooms to the morgue to the emergency department.
What I wish was different
I wish the program was able to continue throughout the year and was open to more people because it was such a great experience that I know others would greatly benefit from.
Advice
Programs like this in which they give you the chance to see different parts of a field you're interested in are so helpful in helping you hone in on what kind of job and workplace you see yourself in after graduation.

What I liked
I liked the opportunity to learn from others that are intelligent and driven to be successful. I was observing surgeries and shadowing physicians on their normal days in their respected areas. There was never a day that I was uninterested or did not want to go.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have been, paid. But, the experience alone showed me that this is what i am interested in and passionate about.
Advice
You have to be interested in the positions. You have to want to learn more, not just want to say that you did this internship. The experience should show you that this is/not what you want to do for the rest of your life.
