Summer Camp Intern

June - August 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved the staff at the History Center. It was a great environment to work in and to give me a feel for museum employment. I also really loved working with the kids. I got a lot more practical experience and feel a lot more confident instructing and working with younger children.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten a little more experience with the administrative side of the camp process rather than just working as another counselor. However, other than that, it was a great experience that I would definitely do again.

Advice

You'll get out of it what you put into it. The staff at the center encouraged me to make this experience what I wanted, all I had to do was ask. If I wanted to lead or create curriculum, I just had to tell someone and they would find a way for me to do that.
