Atlanta Braves

Guest Services

May - August 2022 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I liked how I got to interact with new people every day and that no day was the same in terms of what work I was doing. I'm also a massive baseball fan, so it was really cool to work every game during the summer and see parts of the stadium that I had never seen before.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've had the opportunity to learn more about the different roles on the corporate side of the Atlanta Braves because I mainly learned about Ticket Sales and Guest Services, but it would've been nice to hear about other divisions as well.

Advice

Make sure to put yourself out there when talking to people and try to make fans' experiences as memorable as possible because you never know what's going on in their life or who they are.

Game Day Sales Associate

March 2019 - January 2020 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I liked that 95% of the games you worked were all at night. It is perfect for a college student who has day classes because you would have to be at work between three and four for a game at seven so it was perfect to be able to get school done during the day and then go to work in the nighttime.

What I wish was different

I honestly don’t think anything should have been different. It was a very diverse workplace and they cared a lot about us as there were many students that worked there.

Advice

this is such a fun job to be able to network and gain connections as there are many other college students that work on the game day staff. You get to know a lot of people and their different backgrounds and it will ultimately make you a better person.

grounds crew

June - September 2020 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

It was a great summer experience to see what it's like to take care of a field for a major league team. I met a lot of cool people and got to watch the Braves play in their stadium.

What I wish was different

I wish we had a full season this year instead of a shortened one. There was only a total of 30 home games as opposed to 81 normally.

Advice

I would suggest anyone who is into baseball and isn't afraid to work hard in the sun to apply.

Event Operations Logistics

March 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

This job has been the best job I have ever had. The team and I had so much fun throughout the entire season, and I met some friends that I'll have for the rest of my life. I was also able to network with some of the coolest executives in the world. Everyone seemed so down to Earth, and everyone got along perfectly.

What I wish was different

Honestly there's not much I can think of. I didn't mind the long hour days or any of the people in charge.

Advice

Network, network, network. There are people within the organization that have so much pull in so many different things. Whether it be any other job in sports at a different organization, to working your way up within this one. You want to be good with the people up top, because those people have connections that you want too.

Guest Services Ambassador

March - September 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I enjoyed getting to interact with so many fans and having a chance to see how a professional sports team operates on game days. I also enjoyed the variety in my job where each day was different and exciting.

What I wish was different

It's hard to pick a negative, but there were times when my department suffered due to a lack of communication or planning between different departments. These moments were few and far between, but brought some unnecessary stress.

Advice

It's a blast working for such an innovative and fun company and is an incredible experience no matter what kind of career you want to have. Just go into it with an open mind, be willing to learn new things, and just have fun!

May - October 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Getting to work home games was very exciting. The Braves organization really takes care of their employees and makes sure they are having fun on the job. The staff I worked with also made the job one of my favorite jobs I have had.

What I wish was different

I wish the hourly pay was a little higher, I often felt like I was completing tasks that were above my pay grade.

Retailer

June - August 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

It was great to work in a team environment with many people on similar career paths as myself. I have been a Braves fan my entire life so it was great to be able to follow the team and see all that goes on behind the scenes with the organization. Working for a large scale sports franchise also opens ones eyes up to everything it takes to host such a big event. It was a great learning experience.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish was different was that they rotate their employees around the stores more often. There are 12 stores within suntrust park but I was only able to work in three of the stores. I feel that if I was able to work in every store it would have only increased what I learned.

Advice

I would advise someone to take more advantage of the networking opportunities you can gain while working at such a large organization. I believe that there were areas of the parks staff that I did not explore and wish I had.
