Software Engineering

May - June 2021 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

Asurion is hands down one of the best corporate cultures in the SWE world. With kind mentors, extensive resources, dedicated efforts to increase diversity and inclusion, and a modern approach to technology, it's hard to imagine what my career would be if it wasn't for Asurion being my first Internship in college. A culture that encourages growth and learning is key and these values were apparent in the culture of the company. If you want to learn, this is the place to be.

What I wish was different

Wish the internship was in person, but due to COVID it was remote. Despite this, WFH was handled very well.

Advice

Utilize coffee chats, 1-1's and any other opportunities to learn more about the people that work there.

Software Engineer

May - August 2020 • Sterling, VA

What I liked

I loved the culture. There is so much support for young engineers. You get a lot of say in what you work on and what you learn. There are tons of opportunities and you have an incredible amount of resources between mentors, best practices, and internal education. Even as an engineer they give you opportunities to work on a business case with other interns with other backgrounds. Couldn't have been better.

What I wish was different

It was too bad that it was all virtual, but the company did a great job of adjusting to the WFH format.

Advice

Keep doing what you're doing, the culture brings people back.

Customer Service Representative

May - August 2019 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I enjoyed learning how to navigate and troubleshoot different operating systems for cellphones and computers.

What I wish was different

I wish the full extent of the job description would have been disclosed at the initial interview; this is technically also a sales job which was not properly advertised on the original job listing.

Advice

Do not expect to develop a long term career from the customer service rep position unless you’re perfect 100% of the time.
