Human Resources Intern
May - August 2022 • Kansas City, KS
What I liked
AWG is a fantastic company to work for. They have so many opportunities to grow and develop a network of wonderful people who care about your work and how you’re doing. I loved that it was hybrid optional, so when I needed to, I was able to stay and work from home. The pay was better than I thought it would be and was worth it for the amazing opportunity.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more opportunities to work with the other interns. I was the only one in HR and most days I felt a little lonely in a cube all by myself. It would have been interesting to have a real-world opportunity to work in a group of colleagues.
Advice
If you’re hesitating about doing an internship, just apply for it. You never know what opportunity you might get! This was an amazing opportunity I thought wouldn’t be mine because I am not an HR major, but it taught me a lot about what HR does.
