The employees. They were some of the nicest and most caring people. They made the experience all worth it. The tech's that I shadowed under cared about what I was learning and tried to make it as enjoyable as possible.
What I wish was different
The hours. Since it is unpaid and I am there 40 hours a week it is a little hard to make any sort of income. This though had nothing to do with Aspirus itself and instead was a rule implemented by the program I am in.
Advice
Be as proactive as you can possibly be. Always try to be doing something productive even when it is slow so you show how attentive you are towards the position.

What I liked
The experience was great! I had the chance to follow a preceptor, practice skills, take on my own patients, and learn by working with other healthcare workers
What I wish was different
I wish I had the chance to work on other units or shadow more to get to know the hospital units better. I felt like I only got to know my unit very well
Advice
I would recommend asking other healthcare workers about their tasks and how to improve your own skills. Don’t be afraid to seek out opportunities
